Replacing wet room flooring

Moved into a house with an upstairs wet room that has been in for just over ten years. The flooring is vinyl but it has started to lift. It isn't leaking yet but I think we will need to replace it sooner rather than later.

A few questions:

  • I assume there is some sort of tanking underneath and the vinyl flooring would have been stuck to that so the tanking would need to be replaced. Does that sound right or is it likely to involve replacing anything else?
  • my husband is practical but this is not something I particularly want him to do as it will take time and he has no experience of installing or repairing a wet room. I am not remotely good at diy. Is this an expensive job to have done professionally?
  • is there anything else I should be aware of / thinking about?

There is likely to be some form of tray underneath so you should be able to just replace the floor. I would say it is a job for the professionals though as it has to be right.

My experience is only through work and I think we use altro flooring. They get an external company in to fit it rather than using those doing the shower install.
