Could I offer money for new carpets

Hi can i ask for your views please.

Planning to put house up for sale...in fairly clean and tidy condition but...recently acquired/inherited a cat who is wrecking the carpet.

I just can't seem to stop the little f*cker sharpening his claws on it.

There is no point re-carpeting the house while he is still in it.

Was considering offering a sum to cover new carpeting. This would be cash upon completion.

It is highly likely that any purchaser would want to do quite a bit of work to house anyway...It's a bungalow and all the other's around that come up for sale seem to get bought by people who immediately tead them apart and extend up and out etc.

What do you think?

Why not just knock a bit off the asking price?

Carpet can be £15 a square metre, or £60 a square metre. Their decorating choices are there's and you don't want to end up in a negotiation over how much you're offering. Just sell it at what it's valued at its current state.

If new owners are going to do work to the house it should be priced accordingly and i wouldn't worry about the carpet - most people would replace carpet if they are doing work to the house. Just price your house correctly.

Thank you. Yes house will be realistically priced to sell.

So then the best thing is to leave it...and can then knock a bit off if necessary.

Am freshening up paintwork as first job so the house can air and lose the fresh paint smell (my husband was in a wheelchair for the last couple of years and there were a few marks from bumps).

Then will just move some furniture around...layout was a bit odd...again due to wheelchair and hospital bed etc. Carpets will be cleaned tho.
