Is this bathroom arrangement a bad idea?

We are redoing our bathroom which currently has a bath but no overhead shower. The easiest solution would be to keep the same layout and tile and add an overhead shower and screen. This would look like the layout in the photo I’ve attached (photo was pulled from Pinterest).

If we do this, we will not be able to open he screen as the sink will be in the way. Does this matter? Currently it is just the two of us in the house and we use our ensuite to shower. This is the guest bathroom/family bathroom if we have a child.

Parents, would you find it overly annoying to use a bath like this for your children?

Our other option is to reverse the shower and have the showerhead and screen down the opposite side. But this would eat up what little storage space we have so we are a little reluctant to do this.

Any advice is appreciated!

Seriously invest in a water softener!!!

I think we'd look for an inward swinging screen, @mando12345! Definitely not ignoring what you said about cleaning. In fact what @Tubbyinthehottub said about concertina screens is the very reasons we aren't going to go with one.

@RandomMess, I think we might down the line but not right now. Between redoing the bathroom and overpaying the mortgage, we need to find places to save. :/

I used to have a bath where the taps and shower were in the middle of the back wall. It then had a curved two piece shower screen that you pulled round towards the outside edge of the bath. When not in use the screen lay flat against the wall so it wasn't in the way when you were having a bath. Also means no cold tap dripping on your toe when you're in the bath!
That might be worth considering?

sorry I haven't read the thread

we originally had a folding screen on ours. (same layout as above) Absolutely hated it. It leaked, it never stayed put, and it was fiddly and got dirty easily. we had it removed and replaced with a short (about 30cm) static screen as shown. I also put up a shower curtain to avoid excess spray. This was much better for us.
