Taking off granite worktop

Seriously dislike the granite worktop we’ve inherited. Problem is it’s a huge island, with upstand and breakfast bar. I’d like it changed to a paler quartz.
Don’t know where to start as kitchen companies aren’t interested as I’ve no plans to change perfectly good units (albeit awful colour).
Is it a really difficult job? No idea how it’s attached.

There's a company called Granite Transformations that a friend used. They cover existing worktops with more granite, or maybe it's done with done kind of granite resin. There are also companies that cover worktops with a thin layer of concrete to give a modern look. Very cool.

I think our worktop is too complicated for them as we have numerous cut outs and a curved breakfast bar that kind of sits on top of an upstand. It’s all huge too. So an overpowering monstrosity in the kitchen 🙄

I’m going to call them anyway mosaic no harm in seeing what they could do!

You should be able to go to a worktop place Direct, just google what's around you. Most so granite and quartz so they'll be able to help

Kimlek · 30/05/2018 11:38

Struggling to find worktop places direct but will keep trying!

Try somewhere like www.worktops.org

They do just the worktop and fitting if you want it fitted

I haven’t used them for about 18 months but used them 3 times in the year before that. Good people and easy system to order, measure and fit

There are similar other forms online too

Dadsussex · 30/05/2018 13:14

Firms not forms

A few people on here have used Topsco and Diapol

You don’t need a kitchen company to do that. Just a worktop manufacturer.
We got silestone through Natural Stone Surfaces

Sunbelina · 09/06/2018 19:42

Forget kitchen suppliers and go direct to the stone yards, that's what I did.

justkeepmoving · 12/06/2018 21:23

we had a local company do just that for us in Chalfont st Giles. ckb89. they even sold our old granite on ebay but we let them keep the money. think they cover the south of England

Kimlek · 15/06/2018 05:13

Thanks keepmoving I’ll google and contact them.
