I'm planning a bathroom refurb.

I'm interested in any top tips from people who have done it before as this is uncharted territory for me...

Ask 101 questions about the consequences of all your stylistic choices! We had taps fitted in the middle of the bath to look nice and be comfier, but 7ish years on the shower attachment is broken and can't be accessed without ripping the bath out Hmm we don't really bother using the bath now because of it! (We do have a shower too...we haven't not washed for 3 years...)

Also get loads of storage built in - cupboard below sink, cupboard behind mirror, cupboard on either side of the loo - somewhere to hide the hundreds of toiletries that come with teenage girls!!

(Hope that's the kind of tips you wanted rather than actual how to do it tips Blush)

I'm watching too- my brother made a mistake where they were worried about the sink being too big, got a small basin, and had to replace it in a few months as it was too small and they had loads of room!!
They've recommended having the bathroom designed by a bathroom showroom which we've done, and hopefully made the best use of space.
That said we're right at the beginning stages, so also watching with interest!

Don’t get taps in the corner or the back of the bath - have them in the traditional place for access!

Do get wall hung toilet and basin or at least back to the wall.

Do get as much storage as possible.

Do get a good shower.

Do get UFH. I didn’t and regret it. The towel radiator isn’t enough to heat the room.

Avoid small washbasins. You get splashes everywhere. Better to get the biggest you can fit in, even if you rarely fill it.

Storage, storage, storage!!! Even if a bathroom is small, look at a tall slim 'tallboy' for toiletries and towels and think about a vanity cupboard under the sink.
