Kitchen appliances, too much choice!

How do you even know where to start? I need an induction hob, extractor, dishwasher and oven (all built in) and am half crazy comparing retailers, prices and reviews. I have a budget in mind for each, but within that budget there are probably 10 of each appliance that fit the criteria and have good reviews, and I just can't decide (despite endless lists and comparison tables, sad).
How have others decided, is it brand loyalty, preferred retailer, something else?
Any tips welcome to end this procrastination.

Part is what has worked well for the last 13 years with a tiny budget and part on reviews. I was looking at AEG but was put off by the fact that Zanussi make them. Our current oven is Bosch and it's terrible. We've had a Hotpoint dishwasher for 13 years in a hard water area and it's still great. Ovens I narrowed down to Hotpoint and Miele but the reviews are great for the Discovery range, large capacity (over 70l) and Pyrolytic for £600 ish. Hobs were hard, I've ended up with a Neff induction as I got it very cheap, but i was originally looking at IKEA as it had bridging zones and a good guarantee for £350. Myappliances.com are unbranded CDA/Caple appliances with the same warranty so we're using them for the wine fridge & downdraft extractor as they're exactly what we're after but much cheaper. I also picked at least A+ ratings

Thanks 4 years I'd never seen that website and the appliances certainly do seem cheap, I wonder if they're any good, could be worth a punt!

I am so totally in the same boat!!! and could have written your post word for word!
I too am finding the whole thing so daunting and, like you, I ma driving myself bonkers going back and forth between open tabs trying to compare.
4years I have been looking at AEG and Bosch!! Why is your current bosch oven terrible? And similarly what is the issue with Zanussi?

wowfudge · 24/05/2018 21:55

We had this first world issue last year. I found Which? useful in narrowing things down then shopped around for the best prices on the models I wanted.

Zanussi I think of as a budget brand and I've never seen rave reviews on it.
Our hob and oven are both Bosch. They're old but the sparker constantly sticks on the hob and it makes weird whistling noises. The oven cooks unevenly and the fan sometimes sticks 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thanks 4years.... may be I need to subscribe to Which then wow. It does seem a bit first world problems but it is is doing my brain in!!!

I did the trial with Which but I was quite disappointed as there's not many tested recently so a lot of current models were not on there; it does give you a feel for brand reputations thought

Avoid Siemens. The interface is hard to use and unintuitive. I've got them and dislike them all.

Miele if you can afford it and plan to stay there long term. I have one or two items and they are the best.
