Flooring on new cement floor in extension

Anyone still on here who has had floors done? We have our karndean quote in but wondering how soon it can be laid on the new cement floor in the extension? Or if they can just lay a damp proofing over it perhaps.

At moment floor going down 5.5 weeks after floor was cemented.

Concrete takes X number of weeks per inch of thickness to dry out. A good flooring fitter will take this into account and recommend whether you need damp proofing before the flooring is laid. They can use a paint on epoxy compound which the flooring is laid on top of. It adds another step to the fitting, and more cost of course, but it's not a huge deal.

We've had karndeen laid on a new floor before . The sub floor ( concrete) has to be completely dry before they lay the karndeen a good floor fitter should come with a damp meter to check . I can't remember how long we left it but there is a way of working it out depending on the thickness of the floor

I would recommend a hydrometer is fitted you need to be sure the floor is dry. We have had u/f heating and had screed put down it's taken an age to dry due to incompetent builder but we couldn't risk laying the floor until we knew it was ready.
