We moved four months ago to a new home. It's an 18th century house which is G2 listed. It's got a conventional Georgian configuration of a room each side of the front door and stair case up through the middle of the house.
So on the first floor the rear rooms are off the half landing and are smaller and then the two front rooms are the large, high ceilinged rooms with the original casement windows and panelling etc.
The bathroom is one of the large first floor rooms. It is large and has a lovely 5 piece suite and is a big "wow" factor room. But, it seems a shame to me that a room of this size should be wasted on a bathroom.
The room behind the bathroom (off the half landing) is directly above the downstairs WC and the utility room and I think this would be a better room for the bathroom. This would leave the front room as a really good sized second bedroom.
Obviously the house wasn't built with a bathroom at all and this was added in the 1960's.
How easy would it be to move the bathroom back to the room above the WC and utility? Pipework is obviously in place so plumbing shouldn't be too stressful.
As it's listed I'd need listed building consent and planning permission of course.
Just musing the idea really but I'm interested in whether anyone has moved a bathroom to a different room and whether it's possible/what to look out for/is it more hassle that it's worth?
TIA
