Would this wallpaper suit a 9/10yo boy?

Ds has one wall of wallpaper in his room, he's had it since a baby. He's almost 5 now and it's looking quite shabby.

Would this treasure map wallpaper suit him for another 5 years, so until he's around 10? I worry it will be far too twee for that age child Confused. In general I'd say he's slightly above average maturity so far, in terms of his interests.

How about some (good quality) line decals? You can get pretty much subject online now, and they stay up very well - look just like they have been painted.

My son (aged 10) has one like this, as he likes vintage cars/planes, and generally engineering/design. That's not his room, by the way!

I think the decals are a good idea. You could probably get an awesome olde world treasure map decal which would give you the vibe of the wallpaper without the commitment. A quick google says you can even get them personalised, which is probably pretty cool when you are 5.

You have no way of knowing what he'll be into at 10. Might be football, harry potter, or anything in between. Plain walls with decals or posters mean you can change the Stuff really easily without it arguing. A HP mad 8 year old would be so thrilled by some spell decals or something.

The only thing that's really stuck for my two over that age range is their favourite colour.

Wow I love it. My 12 yr old thinks it's v cool but he's v into geography.

Plain walls and cover them with the posters from their magazines. This is what my 10 year old wants. Mind you he wants it painted but I refuse to paint and then cover it in blue tack

It would be too young for ds at about 7. I love the colours in the 2nd one!

My 9 year old would find that babyish if it was in his room. He likes things v plain and has for a few years!

his tastes will change very fast. Before you know it, he'll want gaming posters, sports cars and gorgeous girls. His friends will poke fun at anything babyish.

I'd suggest something much plainer that you can stick-on or hang pictures on. A really big pinboard or two is handy.

Hardly anyone has picture rail these days, but a row of screw-eyes near the top of the wall enable you to hang anything and can be taken out and decorated over when no longer needed (tap the plasplugs slightly below the surface of the plaster to avoid cracks and make it easy to fill over).
