what colour to paint this kitchen?

I only have a pic of the kitchen but there's a living room/dining room behind the kitchen all open plan.

I don't know whether to paint the kitchen area one colour and then the dining/living room another colour to break it up or just paint it all one colour.
Although it has patio doors it doesn't get a huge amount of light in there as its at the back of the house.

I initially thought almond white but now i'm thinking does it need a splash of colour?

Almond White's brown tones come out more where there is less light - it's still a very light colour though. We have an open plan kitchen and dining room and the kitchen is Dulux Willow Tree and the dining room Natural Wicker.

All one paint colour. It makes the space look bigger. I quite like Wimborne White by Farrow and Ball or Pointing might be worth looking at too.

The tiles are busy but are not colourful. I would go with any light colour that sits well with the lightest colour tile. The brown tiles do not really lend themselves to any brighter colour, in my view. I would use colourful accessories to introduce an accent colour into the space. Glasses, breakfast bar chairs, etc.

Our kitchen is big. We wanted the dining room area to have a different feel which is why we didn't paint everything the same colour.

I would also go for a single colour - agree that it'll make the room seem bigger and look more together. I don't think you should go neutral / cream though (but I'm not a lover of accent accessories clutter to introduce colour) so I'd go with a 'colour' on the walls. Something like Stone Blue / Parma Gray / Oval Room Blue from the F&B colour chart - not saying you need to use F&B paint, just to give you an idea of colour.
