Hi everyone,
We're in the process of getting a new boiler fitted as our 11-year-old Ideal Icos regular boiler is on its last legs. We've had a quote to have it replaced by a Worcester Bosch 30CDi regular boiler, but I've since seen a few suggestions that a more modern system boiler could be a better choice.
To be honest, I'm struggling to tell the difference between the two, but given that it will be an expensive purchase, I'm hoping someone can help point us in the right direction. The theory is that a system boiler will heat faster and waste less energy, but is there enough in it to warrant switching from a regular?
To give you some background, the property was built in Shropshire in 2005. We have a hot water tank and expansion vessel in an upstairs airing cupboard with lots of other gubbins - pump, zone valves etc. There is no cold-water feeder tank in the loft (I'd assumed that meant we had a system boiler, but it doesn't, our current boiler is definitely regular). The house has underfloor heating downstairs, radiators upstairs, two shower rooms and one bathroom.
The Greenstar 30CDi Classic Regular and Greenstar 30CDi Classic System both seem to be the same size, so installation of either ought be fine in the current location. I'm waiting to hear back from the plumber we are intending to go with, so I'll pick his brain when I can, but in the meantime any tips, suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.
