Good evening all,

So I've decided to do a
Mini refurb, which is remove tiles and redo with new ones, remove and reinstall a worktop ( just basic laminate type) install a new sink ( same position as it so no major plumbing) changing the doors primarily on the doors/drawer fronts as my carcasses are fine with the exception of one wall cupboard that has to be totally replaced for a slightly smaller one and one of the base cupboards with the new doors only being shifted along to fit a double oven housing unit, and lastly to install the hob and double oven.

Other than the oven there is no electric work involved, there will be minimal plumbing and he said will take no more than 3 days two of which will be half days as the need to wait for tiles to set which will only be half a day as it's not that much

I've been quoted £2.5k?!?!?!

Well for comparison, we've just been quoted £1.5k for a complete kitchen rip out and replace, including tiling and spotlights in the ceiling/ceiling skim over. Estimated 10 days work.

I would get another quote if I were you! That's a hell of a daily rate for what is essentially handyman jobs.

Well I've just had our bathroom done for 2.9K and that involved knocking toilet/bathroom into one and creating a new doorway by effectively shortening the hallway, moving the bath, sink and radiator, creating false wall for a separate shower cubicle & complete plaster and re-tile. Took 1 bloke about 2 weeks. I'd get another quote if I was you.

I think he's been on the sauce. I know London can be a bit higher but I read the quote and thought he's just being straight up silly with those figures!

That's actually a good idea. Maybe I should look for a very good handy man even if I had to pay for the old tiles, old doors, etc to be collect it still wouldn't cost that much!

Thanks guys.
