Any feedback please on Hook Heath? In Woking area.

DH and I are deliberating different houses and he really likes one that is in Hook Heath. I don’t know anything about the area, but I haven’t heard great things about Woking in general.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know it a bit as have relatives in Woking and visit often. They love it and live in a very nice area, St John's. They moved there from London 10 years ago when starting a family due to big relatively good value houses for the area, decent schools and excellent trains to London.
The town centre is undergoing huge redevelopment and whilst not old or scenic like Guildford is very useful.
Working js incredibly diverse so I think it's impossible to just look at it as Woking... sorry I don't know Hook Heath specifically but recognised it in your post title... perhaps post in chat for traffic and include Woking in the title?

Hook Heath is very nice and isn't too far from the station etc in Woking. As towns go, Woking is never going to be like Guildford but it's definitely dreadful and is much better than it used to be.

Depends what sort of area you're think of though.......... where is the other house?

........" definitely NOT dreadful" is what I meant to write!

Thanks both. The other houses we’re considering are in Weybridge and Walton. Weybridge in particular has a nice feel to the high street, park etc. I didn’t get a sense of a “centre” when we viewed the Hook Heath house

If you are looking for a sense of centre and wonderful community then Horsell Village gives you that. It has a good range of property and the convenience of being walking distance to woking

Hook Heath is a nice area but as previously said woking town can be a bit rough. Good commuter links and everything you need there. Sorry don't know much about Walton it weybridge.

I agree about Horsell. We looked in Hook Heath but the thing that put us off was the lack of a centre. Weybridge is lovely too. Also Woodham, Pyrford and West Byfleet might be worth considering.

Hook Heath is just houses, kind of a suburb of Woking really. You could look at Worplesdon which is very close by. I’ve always thought Hook Heath is very ‘naice’ And Cheryl Cole lives very close by which may or may not be a plus Grin.
Woking has been greatly improved in recent years and I’ve never found it particularly rough but it’s not attractive.
As PP have said Horsell Village may have a better community feel.

Hook Heath is not far from Woking town centre, it is walkable if you are at the Wych Hill side rather than St. Johns so you have the mainline station there, vet if you need one, not far from St. Peter's Hospital if you need that.

There is a Co-Op by Wych Hill (used to be a pub) a Londis and a newsagent/random items shop.

If you are looking at Goldsworth Park there is a dentist and some shops there.
If you are looking near St. Johns there is a selection of shops including another Co-Op.
There are some beautiful houses but Hook Heath is fairly sedate so perhaps not for you if you want lively.

Some parts of Woking are nice, some not so nice (Old Woking is not the best), you could also look at Chertsey/Anningsley Park.

For somewhere with more of a lively feel Weybridge has a nice town, West Byfleet is nice, Walton is OK.
