Freezing open plan area downstairs - fridge vent?

Hi,

No matter how much heating i have on, it's so drafty downstairs, especially today as it's freezing. Im wondering whether there is an issue with a vent behind my fridge which i was told should be there. The people who delivered the fridge didnt flag any issues but it cant be normal to have such a cold home. Has anyone else faced this sort of issue or am i sounding like a complete muppet?!

We have a large open plan kitchen diner and it is cosy with the heating on. What's the roof like and what insulation do you have? What about draughts around doors and windows? The roof of our dining room is so well-insulated it's the last place snow melts of the whole house. The ceiling is vaulted on the inside.

open plan is notoriously cold and draughty, because all the warm air flows away.

Is it open to a staircase? If so you are doomed to be cold.

Do you have bare floorboards? Gas fires, woodburner or open hearth and chimneys? Is the open plan area open to the front and backdoors? How old are they?

I thought a fridge vent was to carry away the heat not the cold? It should be warming the place up not cooling it down.

Have you looked under the baseboards on outside walls to make sure there is no draft around pipes etc. going through the wall?
