We are about to update our glazing and doors.
Windows will be UPVC double glazing, but nor sure what colour to go for?
White or Oak.
Our windows are currently dark brown wood (beyond repair) with leaded panes.
And door colour? To match or different?
House is 1960s brick built semi. We aren't directly on the road and have a front garden if that helps you picture it.
Pics of your windows would be great for inspo! Thanks

White doors/window frames are horrible.

Possibly not much help to you but we are having cream in our new house (part brick, part stone), with Chartwell Green front door (cream frame).

I think it depend son the colour of your brick as to what looks best.

My BTL has Redwood UPVC which suits the house.

My immediate thought for a 60s build would be white window frames but you could go for any colour door. Are there similar style houses in the area? Have a look around and see what looks best.

We are going through this angst at the moment our house is also 60’s with dark brown windows and yellowish stone.

I don’t want to have bright white and the anthracite looks good but I think it will date. The current choice is greenish grey.

I also liked the cream with a green door.

If it helps I read an article that said windows should not stand out too much - make a statement with things that can be easily repainted doors etc as styles change.

Oak is very 1980s. We've recently replaced all the oak UPVC windows on our house even though there was nothing wrong with them, because they just looked so dated. We could probably have lived with white. We now have anthracite which looks very modern.

Windows sometimes do stand out, for all the wrong reasons. The wrong windows can ruin a house and its kerb appeal. Make sure that you get them right, which probably means vaugely in line with the original 60s ideas.

I think that white is ideal. It is classical and timeless - like white crockery, white bed linen, white bathroom fittings.

The colour of your door will depend on the colour of the brick. What is it?

I think either will work but don't get white doors. I also agree Chartwell Green looks very nice. We just recently changed windows from dark brown leaded to oak leaded but our house is white. We also went for an oak front door.
I also think that anthracite modern windows look like a crime on a nice brick house.

Lots of different ideas.
The area its pretty mixed in terms of houses. Some period properties, lots of 60s 70s 80s but nothing new or modern.
Most of the houses built in the same style as mine had the Grey pebbledash treatment in the late 80s. Mine is somewhat unique because of that now!
Trend in the area is definitely oak windows over white for new UPVC. Just not sure if it will date badly? A lot of the houses with dark UPVC definitely look dated.
I'll try and post a pic of the house before we moved in (garden has changed, brick and windows same)

I’d probably go for white.
