Dishwasher not heating water

We have a zanussi zsf6606 dishwasher and recently it has stopped heating up. If it's turned off at the mains for a while it works but it hasn't heated up today at all. How easy is this likey to be to repair. Main issue being we rent, ll will not repair or replace it as 'he doesn't supply dishwashers ' despite it being in when we moved . Also he has paid out a lot for various other things that have failed through wear and tear recently so I don't want this to be the straw that gets us a section 21.

if you are big and strong, you can pick up a second-hand dishwasher free or for next to nothing on Freegle or Ebay.

They don't fetch much because they are heavy, and people can't be bothered collecting them.

Hold out for a newish one from one of those people who gets a new kitchen every five years.

Thanks. Hadn't thought of freecycle/Facebook! Not strong but will find a way round it.

I paid £ 230 in london 2 years ago to replace heating element in my slimline smeg dishwasher

MessySurfaces · 15/04/2018 21:30

We have an excellent beko which is now 9 years old and cost about 150 new. Smeg are always extortionate! And they break often...

Ours is 15 years old and thats the first time it broke. Unfortunately its integrated and nothing else fits in that space apart from another smeg thats really expensive so the only option was yo fix it till we can replace our kitchen and buy a new one

I'm trying it again tonight in the vague hope it has reset after being switched off for 24 hours Confused

Well it's on and it's hot. At least for now ...

it sounds more like a control fail than the heating element then, perhaps the thermostat sticking.

do you use salt or all in one detergent?
we had a similar issue. now solved by putting salt in every month.

blamethecat · 16/04/2018 21:49

I do use salt and rinse aid.
