Paint and Paper (Paint) Farrow & Ball

Can I pick some brains. We have picked some colours for living room kitchen and bedroom. We got little sample pots from farrow and ball and a company I think are called paint and paper whose logo I can't actually read (*smacks face).

We had intended to just colour match with jonstones, but I am actually a little bit in love with the living room colour and I really want it to be the same colour. I know colour matching is probably not going to give an exact match...but is it worth spending £90 for 5L over £26 for colour matched paint?

Really I think i'm looking for someone to tell me their experiences of colour matching good and bad!?

Thank you in advance...hopefully you can follow my ramblings

It's worth using the f and b. It gives a lovely finish compared to colour matching. You will get the colour right but not the finish. I've done both and much prefer the f and b.

It's Paint and Paper Library and I believe they are owned by Little Greene (who are better than Farrow & Ball according to decorators I have asked).

I would go with colour matched paint (in a tough scrubbable formulation) for hard wear areas like kitchen and hallways. The high end paints with their lovely texture pick up marks like nobody's business and you can't scrub them whatever they tell you.

Might be worth using the real thing in your bedroom where it won't mark and you'll get to appreciate it Smile

We've used Paint & Paper Library and it's excellent paint. Would recommend it!

Yy Paint & Paper much better than F&B also have a look at Mylands paint really good quality & some lovely colours.

We used Little Greene for woodwork at £95 ish for 5l which my in-laws nearly keeled over at but it was lovely and worth paying for.

My whole house is johnstones colour matched F&B paint and the colours are identical and it is much better paint.

Paper & Paint Library are FAB paints (and no, the logo doesn't say anything apparently) Hmm

Haint · 13/04/2018 11:19

I had a Paper & Paint colour matched at Johnstons and it is undetectable, i have the actual paint right next to the copy and you cannot see a difference
I was doing stripes on DS wall and ran out of the expensive paint and didn't want to buy a whole new tin so colour matched it - you honestly cannot tell

HoneyBadger32 · 13/04/2018 11:42

I keep thinking the label says LOGIC...but I have tried hard to make sense of it Grin Going to go with the colour match, and if it looks rubbish will do the second coat in the fancy pants stuff :D

I really love the P&P colours, they seems a little more vibrant than the F&B

We colour matched off white (F&B) and it was a 99.98 match. Also used Light Gray for the built in cupboard, but did use F&B as it was for wood

treeofhearts · 13/04/2018 15:40

I always read it as Gogic but it actually doesn't say anything. I worked somewhere that mixed them and asked the rep. They are made by Little Greene not Farrow and Ball and are much better quality paint. F&B are lovely finishes and colours but durable they are not. Little Greene can be made up in scrubbable and is much nicer for the same price.

hiddenmnetter · 13/04/2018 15:43

We used Johnstones covaplus colour matched to f&b and not only did it look exactly the same, it had that same slightly chalky finish and different colour in different light effect. Fraction of the price as well- 5L tubs were costing me ~£40 and one 5L tub would do all the walls in a good sized room for 2 coats with enough left over for touch ups.

hiddenmnetter · 13/04/2018 15:44

But, like f&b it marks really easily and doesn’t scrub.

See when I colour matched F&B it wasn’t a fraction of the price. It was about £5 cheaper on a large tin. Not a significant amount if you’re doing a room or two but would be if decorating the whole house. Paper & Paint was quite a lot more so a bigger saving

HoneyBadger32 · 16/04/2018 10:29

So...I bit the bullet and colour matched, got three 5l tins for £60 so all my paint for less than 1 tin of the fancy stuff! I put the big tins next to the sample pots and am actually amazed by how good a match they are! Heres hoping they look as good after I slap them on the walls

Can I ask how it went?
