New kitchen, should we replace boiler at same time?

We’re planning on getting a new kitchen soon-ish. It’s 16yo as is the boiler, which is in one of the cupboards.

We have a small boiler and then a huge thermal store thing in the airing cupboard.

Should we replace the boiler at the same time as doing the kitchen?
My worry is that the boiler will need replacing and we’ll then end up wrecking the new kitchen to get a new boiler in. Or being limited in what we can do because of the previous system iyswim.

What would you do? Confused

Definitely get a quote to replace, move or change the boiler.

They have changed a lot and you may find a newer type (sealed/pressured?) would be more efficient. This would also give you an idea about keeping the existing and replacing at a later date.

A relative has just had a large extension built, they were intending to keep old boiler but when the heating engineer told them about moving boiler at a later date would be problematic they bit the bullet, and are very pleased they did.

That’s the thing I’m worried about. If the boiler/ system breaks then I don’t want to muck up the new kitchen or limit my options and end up with something that’s not ideal.

Also want to avoid re-routing pipes all over the house too!

We are also in the process of redoing our kitchen and we are replacing the boiler and the tank and updating to the new system where we don't need tanks in the loft.

Get a quote. Gas regs have changed, so for example, if your boiler is close to a kitchen window, you would now have to position a new one further away or have an (ugly) extended vent outside.
