I'm having real trouble trying to ascertain the prices of kitchen worktops.

Can anyone in a nutshell, put these is order of price, lowest to highest?

Laminate
Granite
Quartz
Silestone
Compact laminate

Can anyone recommend a hard working affordable alternative to stone? I don't want something with lots of maintenance.

Thanks in advance!

Have granite. Absolutely perfect after 15 years. Not minded in any way. No chips or one single mark. Everything put on it including very hot pots. Only disadvantage is the black smears and you can't just wipe it . It has to be shined up every time. But looks great when this is done. Would recommend it.

purplegreen99 The recycled glass is sooo beautiful! I thought it was more expensive than granite, but I could be mistaken…

October to be fair, my kitchen is tiny with minimal workspace so it's all a high-traffic area if I'm honest. But yes, I think I'd be disappointed if I'd paid for it. (I know I am sort of paying for it through rent but you know what I mean.)

A previous place had granite and it was so much nicer. A quick swiff with some Method glass cleaner and it twinkled like a firmament.

Chrys2017 you could be right as I was just told by the friend who has recycled glass that it was cheaper - haven't actually had any quotes yet myself. The company I've been looking at is Urbnrock & they have some price guides on their website urbnrok.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Price_Guide.pdf

We have black sparkly granite! Can’t remember the exact colour name but it’s great. Really easy to clean wi hg granite cleaner and dry with microfibre cloth.

purplegreen The Urbnrock does look nice—and appears to be cheaper than granite!

We have black granite too and it’s the business! Ours is 10 years old and still looks new, we put everything hot/cold/sharp on it and no marks.

The only thing is it’s total unforgiving if you knock anything on it or drop something, we go through a lot of crockery!

Can anyone recommend a good granite cleaner? The stuff I’ve always used has been discontinued Sad

We use a cleaner which was recommended by the company that installed our black sparkly granite. It lasts ages as well.
