Please could someone help me

We are going to lay a patio but need to get slabs that are very strong as they also need to form a sort of bridge between door and the patio

Does anyone know which type to choose or the ones that we cannot use?

The bridge is to go over a gap of about 50cm length and 100cm wide

The patio is going to raised to make it same height as back door so it is wheelchair friendly but we need the bridge cos of damp proof course of house iyswim so there ,JDT be a gap between house and patio

the strength comes not from the slabs, but from the seep, flat and well-compacted base. Paving contractors use 150mm of MoT, which is blended and sold by all quarries because it is used as the base for motorways. It has to be compacted with a roller or vibrating plate. I had a brick edging to mine, like a curb, to be sure it could not spread sideways, though the contractor said it wasn't needed, as it compacts like concrete. For good results the slabs are laid in a solid bed of mortar. Nor dabs, and not sand. And pointed up with mortar as they go. Not brushed in later.

You will need to excavate the ground, otherwise the new paving will be too high against your house and cause damp. It must slope away from your house for rainwater runoff.

Have a look at the "Paving Expert" website.
