Upstairs play room

We currently have dd in a large second bedroom plus a spare bedroom (ie 4 bedrooms total 2 kids). I’m considering moving her into the spare room and having the large room as a play room. Would be great to have a lot of their toys in one place. But worried it won’t get used if it’s upstairs. Any one have one? Thanks

How old are they?

I couldn’t have it upstairs. Herd of elephants springs to mind. I used the dining room instead.

Course if you don’t have a dining room then go for it. It’s nice to have one room just for kids crap.

6 and 2. Hadn't even considered the noise element good point!

Also, as someone who visits someone with an upstairs playroom, it is a real pain. I don't like my 1.5/2yo going up and being up there on their own (they're a bit of a liability!) or my older dcs might be a bit clingy and not want to be that far from me and so it creates a tricky dynamic. I actively avoid going over to this (lovely!) friend's house as a result. Hth

Mine would never use it, they want to be near us, and they are older than yours!

I would do it if the room is not being used as its no loss if it ends up as toy storage, rather than playroom. I'd buy a decent video monitor so you can see what they are getting up to though!

Might be good when kids are older for a 'chill out' space. Little ones tend to want to stay near the adults.
