Looking to replace kitchen on a fairly limited budget, Wren Kitchens seems good and can do something that looks reasonable in budget. Anyone had any problems with them?
Thanks.

There are several threads on here about Wren of which the general consensus is AVOID!! I think the kitchens themselves are okay but fitting and customer service is poor. Try Ikea if budget is tight.

Asiaticlily · 28/03/2018 21:44

I've not used wren myself but have heard/seen horror stories.

I'd recommend Howdens and finding your own local fitter as all the big names such as B and Q or Homebase add a large percentage to fitting costs.

We were quoted between 3-4K for fitting alone recently on a small kitchen, but will cost less than 1k sourced independently

lostjanni · 28/03/2018 21:57

Avoid at all costs.

purplegreen99 · 28/03/2018 22:12

Wren did very badly in the most recent Which? review of kitchens.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 28/03/2018 22:13

I have a Wren kitchen from 5 years ago. I like it but got my own fitter for half their price.

allglitteredout · 28/03/2018 22:17

We got a £6000 kitchen fitted which the landlord kindly paid for by Wrens 3 months ago and it's literally falling apart, very poor fitting and after sales is very poor. Once they've got your money they couldn't give a shit whether it drops to pieces or not. I would stay well away. Very disappointing!

totallywicked · 28/03/2018 22:23

Avoid wholly

Had one in my old house. Once they've got your money they couldn't give a shit.

New house and kitchen now from Howdens who have been amazing

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 29/03/2018 15:55

I have a Wren kitchen and love it!!!

Great units/worktops, just use your own installer (even their salesperson admitted their installers are totally overpriced).

See if they have any special offers on/sales. Mine was 50% off units. And I got a free set of pans (worth £200) with the induction hob I bought.

tentative3 · 29/03/2018 16:23

We fitted one in our old house, must be 4/5 years ago. I like the kitchen, we had a couple of minor issues while planning but were pleased with the result. We got our own appliances and had our own fitter. I'm not sure I'd consider them now, given the weight of bad reviews online but my OH would.

KanielOutis · 30/03/2018 11:49

We have a Wren kitchen, fitted a year ago. It's great. We used their fitting service, which was outsourced to a local building firm so I guess it depends where you live. The units and worktops are fab.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 30/03/2018 14:29

Used them last year and they were terrible. The kitchen is ok now, but took months of damaged items to get it right. Wish I had used an independent.

Have a look at Wren Kitchen Disasters on Facebook.

Adjoa6014 · 13/05/2018 10:04

I have ordered a wren kitchen and the experience has been stressful!
The short story is that I have half a kitchen fitted. It’s taken about a month to get that far and wren keep delivering the wrong items. The fitters are also stressed out as they can’t complete the job. Wren don’t care. The last I heard was that they were going to try and redeliver in June. No apology. No compensation for the wasted time or inconvenience! I hope enough people stop buying from them that they actually take things more seriously!

Sopsar · 03/02/2019 19:01

Hi just ordered one of these and hoping it will be ok. Sales guy was great, not pushy and I think I got a good price for appliances and quartz worktops. Builder fitting it so fingers crossed.

febel · 15/02/2019 17:48

We are having a new kitchen and until I read this I was leaning towards Wren as the design was great, far better than anyone else we had tried, and the price reasonable. They didn't push us to use their fitters etc either...but am put off now by the reviews. Having said that I know 2 people who have had Howdens gloss kitchens and swear never again...NOT good quality in their opinion...gloss lifting.
Having said that we are not choosing gloss anyway...but am worried about going with Wrens now..although I always think people are quicker to criticise, than praise sometimes. Everyone used to "diss" ikea kitchens..ours has been fab...only replacing cos we have had a re configeration and knock through...not having Ikea again as they don't have the design I want.

PeachRose · 15/02/2019 19:00

Fitting and aftercare is SHITE!! Honestly I wish I'd of listened to people warning me. We are still having problems 12 months after with doors and drawers not closing properly and the kitchen sink is forever leaking. Aftercare is a case of "Ahh well you paid we fitted, job done!!" I am based in Lancashire and the Wrens we dealt with was in Bolton but judging by the reviews I've read, it's a nationwide thing 😡😡😡

Imicola · 15/02/2019 19:06

We had one fitted last year (we used our own tradespeople to fit it), although we sourced our own worktop for half the price elsewhere. I have no issues with it, I feel like we got a lot for our money... Definitely don't go with the first price they offer, even in the sales. Still quite new though so I don't know how well it will wear.

DeadBod · 15/02/2019 19:08

Had a Wren kitchen fitted about 4 years ago. No problems at all and we're really pleased with it.
We were charged for an extra cabinet and an incorrect plinth that were delivered but it was sorted really quickly and the money refunded immediately.
I have 2 other friends who have had Wren kitchens since, also without problems.

cptartapp · 15/02/2019 19:25

New Wren kitchen last year. No problems at all with it. Good quality, one missing part quickly supplied. DH fitted it himself though as they wanted £4K to do so. Even the saleswoman was Hmm

cherriesandoranges · 15/02/2019 19:39

If the price is £17000 the real
Price is £4000 and eventually you'll get it for £7000.

deadsexy · 15/02/2019 20:25

Noooooooooo

Don't do it!!!

Promise the world, deliver fuck all

deadsexy · 15/02/2019 20:28

His was at my last house, I can't even begin to get into the issues. Ok great on sales side but it was missed delivery, wrong delivery followed by missed delivery. It's difficult to live without a kitchen. It was a dark time!!

This house (been in 4 years now) I went with Howdens. It's stunning, few title issues with delivery/mismeasurinh and parts delivered next day no probs at all

TildaTurnip · 16/02/2019 12:34

If the price is £17000 the real price is £4000 and eventually you'll get it for £7000

This is the experience I have heard of too. A family member ended up paying under half the original price due to them messing around and him asking for more and more money off. He used an independent fitter who said the kitchen was easy to fit and better quality than others that he had fitted and the final result is excellent.

The customer care and actually getting it delivered etc was awful but that was what helped him get so much taken off the cost.

Noopa · 16/02/2019 13:25

I went in to Wren to discuss our kitchen plans and get an idea of cost. They wouldn't give me an appointment without my husband being there as they like you to make a deposit straight away Hmm

I haven't been back!

NK493efc93X1277dd3d6d4 · 20/02/2019 19:02

I spent about an hour and a half in their Catford showroom having a design prepared. I then asked for a copy of the plan to discuss with my husband.
To my surprise this was refused and the salesman insisted he must go into the store to view the plan.

Apparently this is company policy to avoid it being copied.
All they would give me was a piece of paper covered in ads with the total price in the middle! He wasn't impressed (& neither was I) & so we went elsewhere - DIY.

sackrifice · 20/02/2019 19:05

Kitchen nice but do not use their fitter.

So many issues, such a bad experience the fitter was banned from coming back and they had to send another one...who then brought his son with him.

Honestly, stay away.
