Wall Oven vs range cooker

Exciting I know. We are moving soon and having the kitchen done before we go in. Brought up with an Aga, now have range cooker but I am leaning towards wall oven plus a proofing drawer and a microwave, and then a hob in the work surface. DH doesn't work he has stage 4 cancer, well at the moment, likes baking bread, and I have watched too many episodes of GBBO, hence the hankering for a warming drawer, I also like the idea of not bending down to get stuff out of the oven.

Any ideas either way of benefits of one over the other? How easy would the integrated ones be to change if they break etc.

Following. We will be going from a wall oven to range and I’m dreading all the bending!

Love it- but we are a tall family!

I currently have a Rangemaster Dual Fuel cooker. We are planning to change to wall ovens for the same reasons as you.

An oven is an oven. Replacing wouldn't be any more hassle if it went wrong. We have a range as it suits a traditional kitchen and built in, higher up ovens look better in modern kitchens. You'll also find that they have a smaller capacity than freestanding ones - only a problem if you want to roast a massive turkey or similar.

Kitchen fitters should be able to put the oven at a height to suit you. No way would I have an oven where you have to bend down to get stuff out.

Ha, the ad at the bottom of my screen is for ovens.

I’m having my kitchen done at the moment and am having a range. I’ve always had a hankering for one, especially having the separate grill function. I had never even considered a wall oven until the kitchen designer mentioned it, but decided on a more traditional look. Bending doesn’t bother me (probably going to regret saying that in 6 months time when I’ve got a giant baby bump!)

If you have small kids wall oven of safer imo. If your kitchen is big enough and you are worried about oven size, you can get 2 ovens one on top of the other, or 2 next to each other. Then you can cook things at different temperatures, or meat in one veg in the other etc. Or watch your toddler use the bottom oven as a mirror to admire her dancing in...

We inherited a range cooker when we moved into our current house. When we had thd kitchen redone a few years ago we got rid of it and put in a wall oven. I have never regretted it.

If we had the wall space I would have put in two full size ovens side by side. However, we didn't and instead have a double oven. We've always been able to cook everything we want, even Christmas dinner for 13 people.
