Removing porch doors

We've moved into a 1930's semi that has an brick archway into a porch. The previous owners have put half and half doors into the archway to make a little enclosed porch. Whilst they're rather handy when we're having parcels delivered, neither me nor DH can fir through the half doorway and frankly it looks a bit shit.

So, I want to take the PVC doors off and reinstate it to how it would have looked originally. But, the PVC door have been put in with silicone sealant stuff. Is that stuff easy to get off the bricks? I'm worried that if we take them out we're going to be left with ugly white stuff stuck to the bricks. I'm sure there must be some way to get it off without damaging the bricks but I don't even know who to google or who I would ask.... any thoughts?

TIA.

How do you mean you can't fit through it? Isn't a half and half just a normal door cut in half in the middle?

We’re in a 20’s house that had a similar monstrosity at the front. We had it removed by a builder and it was absolutely fine. He never mentioned struggling with anything. I reckon it should be relatively easy rob scrape the silicon off.

Yes, but only half opens at once thus you are trying to squeeze through a narrower gap. My back door is like this - about a door and a half wide but split in two. I can fit through but not if I’m carrying a basket of washing for example.

Oh good @JoJoSM2. I’m glad that someone has successfully got rid of them. The house will really be wuite pretty once they’re gone.

And yes, it’s like @SoupDragon says- a bit bigger than a normal door but two doors. I can shimmy through it sideways, but not if I’m holding a child. Opening two doors is a faff and hard work if it’s windy.
