Kitchen companies other than the biggies?

Hi everyone,

We're getting quotes from Wickes, Howdens and DIY kitchens for our new kitchen at the moment. We've discounted Ikea, Wren, BnQ and Homebase.

Our budget is approx. £8k - £10k, for 10 - 12 units depending on design, and inclusive of all fitted appliances (mid range) and installation. No building work needs doing, so it's more or less a straight swap from what's there now.

Can anyone suggest any alternative companies we could look at? We're in the Midlands if that is useful info. but could travel to showrooms if the company looks promising. I'm opening to all different styles - we're just looking for something that will stand the test of time hopefully, (current kitchen is just starting to really fall apart at 38 years old).

Thanks!

Ooo thanks MiaaowTheCat, could you let me know that the company is please?

I've spent this morning looking locally, and further afield for some smaller manufacturers in the hope that I find something I fall in love with. I think that's one of the main issues at the moment - I'm not that keen on most of the kitchen styles from the big stores, especially not keen enough to spend money on them, and I really want this kitchen to be one that we'll love as for us this is a lot of money and we've decided to do the kitchen instead of other renovations.

Thanks

Another recommendation in East Midlands. www.allwood-kitchens.co.uk. They are in cavendish bridge with is just off the m1 junction and near Long Eaton. Everything is made by them in their workshop better price and better quality than Howdens. We're in the middle of a having a kitchen extension built and allwoods have worked with us on the kitchen design and will be installing it as soon as we're ready.

As a surveyor, I've recommended before Ikea carcasses and doors from this fun company: superfront.com/eu/kitchen

You can basically pay rock bottom for everything you don't see and then add nice finishes and handles.

I run a Facebook Group where we talk about these kind of questions in more detail: www.facebook.com/groups/homerenovationcommunity/
