New bathroom -- awful shower pressure! Help!

We just installed a new bathroom to replace our mucky old one. It is beautiful, just as I pictured! But the shower is a disaster!

We obviously installed the wrong thing -- our builder, whom we otherwise like, said he thought it would be fine, but it's not. It is really a trickle. Ok, whatever, what are our options?

We have a combi-boiler. Our old shower was an old but the shower pressure was actually really good I guess it was a pretty small shower head? This one is a rain shower (I know we should've known -- or the plumber should've, but again, in problem-solving mode now.) It is concealed behind tiles.

Ideas we've had (builder is away today, but coming back tomorrow.) Install a booster pump on our boiler (is this possible/wise?) Just a get a new shower head (is that possible with a concealed shower?? The shower head comes out of an arm with parts hidden behind tiles.) Or do we have to replace the whole thing? I wonder if so because even the pressure from the handheld shower is low.

I've also thought about getting a megaflow but 1. money and 2. the tank would have to go in the cellar (ground floor flat) and that sounds like too much trouble.

A bit in despair because otherwise everything else has gone to plan/budget. It's our only bathroom so it has to be good! The old shower was awful in a way, but the shower pressure was actually decent so it must be possible.

Hope me!

I'd say you've got an issue with the pump he's used. Could be faulty or not connected? Did he not test it before he left the job?

Just a very small thing, have you checked your mains stop cock is fully open?

Modern showers tend to have a water saving restrictor (eg Grohe's "EcoJoy") in them too. You can possibly try and remove that. Youtube may have a how too.

We have a similar issue and have gone for a water pump but be warned they are noisy!!!

Hi, hopefully you have been able to resolve this issue by now but if not, I thought my own experiences with showers and shower pumps might be useful. We had very much the same scenario in our house when we failed to check if the water flow and capacity of our combi boiler was compatible with the new shower we had purchased. Unfortunately, shower pumps can't be used with a combi boiler as shown in this blog post so you will have to replace the shower if you want to boost the pressure. Hope this helps and best of luck!

We had a sudden water pressure issue with a new-ish shower (2 years after it was fitted). A plumber came out and changed the “cartridge”. No idea what it means, but it fixed the low pressure problem immediately
