Putting in a new bathroom - where do I buy it from?

We're about to put in a new bathroom and have had a builder quote for the work.

He wants us to buy the stuff ourselves - bath, sink, loo and heated towel rail, and it's years since we put in a new bathroom at our old house.

We used bathstore.com then - are they still ok?

Any other suggestions? We want decent quality as we don't intend to move for years/ever, but not top quality as we can't afford it.

Thank you!

I bought some stuff from Bathstore last year and it was absolutely fine, same as when I'd bought from them for my previous flat in 2011. Got the taps, shower and radiator from City Plumbing though, much cheaper.

We used a local trade supplier for the majority of ours. They had most of what we wanted, or similar, on display in the showroom, gave us reasonable discounts, and delivered exactly when we wanted as they order from the manufacturers twice a week. We used sanctuary bathrooms for our shower, and city plumbing for the rest. Oh, and an ikea vanity unit and basin.

IKEA - No
BATHSTORE - Yes
WICKES - No
B and Q - No
Victoria plumbing - everytime.
I get 10% off all prices including sales for being account holder...yay..Smile

Try Q&S supplies - most baths have 10/25 year warranties

If you chose white you can buy different bits from different stockings

For example our sink was from eBay due to the design we wanted/needed

Bath /panel and screens were q&s £400 cheaper for the same make etc than anywhere else

Loo B&Q - taps etc from different places

Shop round they seem to have 'cheap sinks and expensive baths' and visceral verse in a set so make comparisons difficult!

Look out for bar showers - which have easy to replace parts -

Plumbnation is the best place to get bathroom stuff online, it’s often a lot cheaper than local plumbing merchants although a lot more hassle if you need to return something (as are all online plumbing suppliers). Our plumber advised buying Roca sanitaryware as it’s better quality, more robust and easier to fit.

I’ve used QS Supplies and they’re a bunch of liars- I’d strongly advise against using them (they’ve taken down all their bad reviews from Trustpilot cause I had to send proof of my bad review as they disputed it) and Plumbnation is cheaper anyway.

Recently updated our bathroom though not the bath, toilet and basin. Plumber and handy man friend both recommended Victoria plumbing. So bought new stone shower base and shower surround. Really pleased with product and delivery, bought online. Apparently they have always got special offers on.

Fittings like towel rail, shelf, toilet roll holder, hooks and mirror from B&Q. All good quality and reasonably priced.

I looked online for flooring and the firm I liked sent me a few samples that I choose. Flooring superstore.

Tiles from B&Q also. Grouting from Screw fix. Blind from Blinds 2go.

Do posters mean Victoria Plumb or Victorian Plumbing?

Our bathroom upstaris is from Victoria Plumb. Bath and screen is good, toilet is in a unit and the seat (which is the wrong one) can't be changed without taking the whole unit apart and the sink until and toilet units are a bit crap, white stuff is starting to come off the units, they are looking less white and more yellow. It's been in 3 years and will need changing at some point. But it was their cheaper range. The builders we used for the kitchen did rate Victoria Plumb.

Sorry, it was Victoria Plumb, not Victoria Plumbing. Confused until I looked back at old emails when I ordered.

LapdanceShoeshine · 17/03/2018 23:19

I got everything from here about 3 years ago:

www.bathshop321.com/

Prices & quality were good & delivery reliable.

The only drawback with ordering online was that we couldn't tell until it was in that the bath is a bit shallow, & it was too late then to do anything about it.
