Tricky bathroom/futility room

Hiya, wondering if I can pick people's brains about this awkward room? I just can't crack it. It's a downstairs shower room which needs a total refit, but I'm wracking my brains as to how to fit in a washing machine and tumble dryer and still keep a shower. The door is really tight and can't be moved because of where it is in the kitchen. Would love to see if anyone can solve this conundrum.

It's an absolute certainty that I will be back soon asking for help with that. Both rooms are an abomination. I would love to post pics but so much of my life is on MN and they are one-offs - not in a good way.

Could you leave the shower and build a false wall so the washer drier is stacked up next to the wall - separating the shower water from the appliances?

Thus giving you 118-60cm - 58cm to gain access to the shower? - could the sink go in the end of the shower space?

It is a good shout on the working space fresh. I've been recommended a min of 90cm between front of WM and wall. It's manoeuvring the washing basket and WM door as well as yourself in that space. You'd prob have space for a top loading washer and dryer next to each other in that top corner, but I v much doubt you could get shallow depth ones of those.

The trouble is both a shower cubicle and the WM are too wide to get past/use comfortably in a 118cm width space, so they both really need to go at the end. Obviously they can't so there will be a hefty compromise somewhere.

Statisticallychallenged I really love your bathroom. It's a genius solution for starters and the chunky black cabinet is fantastic design IMO.

@GreenTulips I think that could work - it was my original idea. Then the toilet would go where the sink currently is and a tiny sink in the corner - either of the shower or more probably by the door.

@StatisticallyChallenged did you buy that unit or have it made? It is a fab solution.

Thanks!

We got a joiner to knock it up to our spec - couldn't find anything ready made that would work as we didn't want it to look too kitcheny iyswim? I think it works quite well, when it's all closed up you don't look at it and twig that there's anything hidden there. Upstairs laundry is so useful too

Lots of great ideas...one for thought though. Get one of those toilets with inbuilt sinks. 2 in 1 gives you more space to play with.

Just to update, you've absolutely helped me to crack this. I've found a 7l (so normal size capacity) Haier washing machine which is only 46 inches depth. So I will find a slightly rubbish dinky sized tumble dryer and get them built into a unit with a sink on top and put them where the sink is currently. They will be the same depth as the current sink. This will retain current layout for all plumbing. It will be a bit awkward to go past it to the loo and shower. If I get stuck between the washing machine and the wall in the 70cm space I will call @fresh and say 'you told me so'. Thanks to everyone for suggestions. I'll be on pinterest for the next month!

70cm is an improvement on 60!

I'm glad you approve WinkSmile

What clearance should I allow for a toilet which is 370mm wide please?

You ought to have at least 70cm width for a WC to give enough space for a person (and their elbows!).

Thank you!
