Hello everyone, I have just joined this site, and would like an important question answered.
I bought my house in early 2004. The driveway between my house and my next door neighbour, belongs to him. We both had to sign a solicitors letter giving me a permanent right of way over his driveway, which is before you enter his rear property. Its just a few metres in length and we both have separate gates.
I have been driving over this piece of ground some 14 years now.
Someone told me that after 15 years this becomes a permanent right of way.
I have no intention of moving, but in the future should I ever consider this, would the rights of way be available to a new purchaser ?
Its always been a worry to me.
Thank you so much for your replies.

Successors in title means everyone who purchases the house In the future so yes it is permanent imo

Are you in England or Wales OP? Those download prices are not correct for the Land Registry and I think you must have ordered via a third party website - this is specifically why I stated the gov.uk Land Registry site.

I have now actually spoken to the Land Registry by phone. They tell me it is a Deed of Easement which cannot be cancelled without my consent.
The Deed stands for subsequent purchases thereafter.

Yes you are correct, I unfortunately contacted the 'wrong' site. Yes I got the information, but it cost me nearly £48 including VAT instead of only £3 per document directly from the Gov. site. Never mind....

Definitely sounds like exactly the right thing. Bad luck re the website (it's £3 per doc) but in the scheme of things, hopefully a small price to pay for knowing the position. BTW, you can order what you want from the Land Registry and the owner of the land in question will never know.

Thanks for that GU4Mum. Out of curiosity I will order the extra deeds. But already I have such great peace of mind. Much more than that in fact. :) :) :)
