Smart Thermostats PigletJohn?

I'm hoping to have a smart, wireless heating thermostat in the new extension. Mainly because I massively feel the cold and would like to turn on the heating as I leave work!

The extension will be heated by wet underfloor heating (3m x 9.9) and the current area by radiators. I'm after a smart thermostat that would ideally manage both zones. I love the idea of the Nest but the budget is tight so I don't really want to have to buy 2......(3 if we kit out the whole house!)

Any suggestions on a system that would manage both zones & be more effective? Thanks you Smile

Have you looked at Drayton wiser

Or Honeywell Evohome?

I'm still not sure if they'll cover multi zones as they tie in with radiator thermostats rather than linking the systems 🤷🏽‍♀️

Can you not just set it on a timer ( assuming you know what time you will be leaving work when you leave home in the morning)?

Our working patterns change every day, so it's quite difficult to set timers that work effectively without changing it regularly. When I went back to full time last year, we initially had the heating set on timers, but not only was it hard to match it to our working patterns, the house also got too cold if it was off all day from say 07:30-18:00. We currently keep it on 16 during the day and turn it up to 18-19 when home, but it does mean coming home to a chilly house. As we're installing new underfloor heating and radiators in the extension that will need a room thermostat, we might as well go for a smart option 🤷🏽‍♀️

We have the Honeywell Evohome with wet UFH and rads through the house. Each room is its own zone and you can set them individually. DH loves it. I think its a total waste of time and money but there you go. We have an interface screen downstairs and an app on the phone.

I'm looking at Nest and Hive for this same scenario. Hive looks cheaper for 2 zones.

Evo Home looks like it would solve the issue.... the Nest is so much prettier though! I know I shouldn't go on looks but.......

Like Cacofonix, we have the evo home and can set up the zones however we like. We also have wet UFH. DH did all the research and I didn't really care but we have cut our heating bills by about £25 p/m with tiny adjustments (UFH down 1/2 degree, teenagers bedroom doesn't need to be warm until 8.30, heating in younger children's rooms can go off earlier) and it is really easy to control via the interface screen and via the app.

I didn't expect to care about it at all but I'd buy it again actually.

I have Tado. It's German. It was in house when I arrived. It's pretty good and I love that all heating will go off when I leave the house, and turn on when I start to get close to home.

I don't think it's expensive and you can add other bits on.

Neostat is what you are looking for.
Approx £50 per smart wireless stat which is linked to that ‘zone’. You could have one for everywhere, or have a few for different rooms. They are programmable or you can control it from the app on your phone eg when not at home. We have them all over the house they are great! Previously had a nest, it was pricey and because the weather is so unpredictable in this country (snow last week, today 14 degrees?!) it wasn’t really that smart
