We are moving into a smaller home because of schools. I've got until the summer to get it sorted in terms of maximising space. I've decided to put built in wardrobes/drawers in the bedroom as we have huge ceilings and it is a such a waste of potential storage space and to have one wall in the sitting room built in with shelves and cupboard.

Ideally I'd like a company/carpenter to do both rooms to minimise mess and fuss.

I've looked at websites such as Neville Johnson etc. Does anyone have experience of companies like this or getting a carpenter to do the same job?

I have no idea about costs but I'd like something good quality that will last and look great rather than cheap option. No time or skills to do anything ourselves. We'll either be selling eventually in which case it's a selling point if it's nice, or we'll be there for a while, in which case I'd like it to be nice of course!

Thanks in advance.

Quotes I had from high street companies were about 1.5k per metre of wardrobes. Top end bespoke, 2.5k/m.

In the end, I got Ikea wardrobes and components but got a local guy to put them together and build around to make it look fitted. They look like professional fitted wardrobes with glass fronted drawers, lights and general fantastic finishes. Including all the labour it came to about 1.5k or just over for a 4m run.

Thanks JoHo. Did you lose much space having used premade/sized carcasses? This is my worry, every inch is needed!

Lol It's a bit of a jigsaw puzzle with the sizing but if you get it right, there could be no/very little waste. In our case, a wardrobe company would have gone about 5cm higher. As it is, we have a panel that goes up the ceiling that is hat tiny bit taller.

Overall, Ikea do offer a lot of different sizes so a lot can be done. We have since put in a library wall of shelves that was slightly customised and again literally 5cm of waste at the most but DH did spend a few hours measuring up and trying different options to get a combination of units that would work.
