And does it have to be on outside wall? Would it be OK to put under stairs with electric metre?

Thank you

We paid £750 to have ours moved about a year ago. That was the cheap rate as we had it moved onto the other side of the same wall. The further it has to be moved, the more it costs AFAIK. There will also be additional costs for the internal pipe work which you'll need to get your own contractor to do & have it signed off by National Grid before they'll move the meter.
It was s proper faff!

Why does it need to be moved? If it's just a few inches to let you open a door fully or something you can sometimes get away with it for free if you ask the engineer when they are fitting a new meter i.e changing your meter to a smart meter.

Other than that it depends on the distance but it's not cheap at all anywhere between about £500 into the thousands. I'm not sure I would bother to be honest.

Ours was £840 £700 was to move it from the side of the original house to front of extension and the rest to reconnect to my boiler. HTH

If it's within range of the bendy pipe you can do it yourself, further than that would be more and you would have to move it outside rather than to another room if that's what you want.

Hi, you can no longer put gas meters in cupboards under the stairs especially, next to an electric meter as possible faults could be dangerous with gas pipes/meter.
Usually they advise having the meter, either on a front or side wall.
Costs vary hugely, depends on where your pipes/supply are & where you want it moved too.

We're having ours moved in the next few weeks - costing £220. It's under the stairs and needs to move half a metre to allow access to the fuse box.
