Having a minor panic over frozen pipes to an upstairs and downstairs bathroom. we have another en suite which is fine and the kitchen still has water. Obviously hasn't been above freezing for several days, but the central heating is less than a year old. Said frozen pipes are in the eves of the dormer roof. Will they definitely crack? Obviously supposed to be even colder tonight! What to do!

I would phone a plumber as if you defrost them they could leak.
We have an electric oil filled radiator in our far away loo which in on low 24 hours. The central heating goes off at night so pipes can freeze then. Set up 24 hour heating or leave bathroom doors open so heat reaches them but make sure plumber is available when you do this.
Lag the pipes and/ or arrange extra heating for next freeze.

Find out how to turn your water off so you can if you need to.

it is possible to gently defrost these by wrapping with insualtion, blankets etc and warmthe room. Keep a bukket nearby to catch any water. But as already mentioned turn off your water before defrosting and then turn it back on gently - checking all the time.

Don't let them get any colder - make sure they are well and truly wrapped up and try to warm the loft in some way.

if you have frozen pipes, turn off your stopcock first. Otherwise, as soon as they thaw, water may squirt out. You don't know when that will happen.

Then open all the taps connected to those frozen pipes, so that any pressure can escape when they start to thaw.

You really ought to inspect those pipes. Quite often a compression joint will be pushed apart by the expanding ice. IME this is more common than a pipe splitting.
