Moving to Horsham

Hi everyone. I'm currently looking into moving to Horsham/Littlehaven because people said that it's a nice area, good school, within our budget and it has direct access to London and it's close to where my other half works.

I'm not familiar with Horsham at all but my other half's friends said it is a nice area. I've lived in Kingston upon Thames borough since I moved here from Philippines back when I was 17.. I think it's safe to say that I have had bad luck because I experienced bullying when I did my A-levels in New Malden and have also received unprovoked racial abuse (verbal) from random people asking me to "go back to your country" on many separate occasions. Kindly note that this is not limited to Kingston area only - for example, I've experienced this when I went to Peppa Pig World, Chessington World of Adventures, London buses or trains, or sometimes when I accidentally bump into people rushing on stations in London.

My other half, who is British-born Chinese, said he also experienced racial name-calling / bullying when he was in primary school.

As a mum to a 4 y/o girl, I would like to minimise her chances of experiencing the same when she goes to school. So I was wondering if I can ask for advice on the following about Horsham/Littlehaven based on our situation:

  1. Which areas / streets are recommended?
  2. Which schools are recommended?
  3. Is there a good community where asians like us are accepted?

Thank you in advance and regards.

The area you are looking at is probably mostly white British, however Horsham does have quite a variety of ethnicities. I haven't heard of any nasty racial problems. The schools in that area would be either Littlehaven Infants, which feeds into Northholmes Juniors if you move to the east side of Littlehaven station, or on the other side either All Saints, Holbrook or North Heath Primary Schools. There is also Kingslea Primary which is closer to the main Horsham station. There are no bad schools in Horsham, but most are over subscribed, although I believe that there shouldn't be a problem with the Littlehaven/Northolmes combination.
I am a childminder in Horsham and have/do look after children from a variety of ethnicities.
