Help with picking right bathroom 'furniture'. Clueless!

at a bit of a loss really. Having new bathroom installed in a room where previously no bathroom has been.

Having new soil pipe, want a toilet that you can't see the pipe, is this one what I want?

Also, clueless about the shower/bath arrangement. The price quoted for is shower over bath with shower 'hidden' in stud wall. What the hell do I get? An 'ordinary shower, so shower head, hose pipe attachement set up with taps and then they just hide the hose in the wall or is there a 'special one' that I need to get? Also, taps. Should I get those put on the stud wall and then does this mean buy a bath without holes for the taps already drilled in?

The only thing I'm clear about is what sink set up I'm getting.

Doesn't have to be matching, all going to be white furniture with silver taps.

Site manager coming tomorrow to discuss everything but I'd like to feel a bit more clued up as I'm going to have to order things sharpish.

A wall hung toilet with hidden cistern is a much nicer option if you can?

MCSpammer · 19/02/2018 07:22

Does that mean it will have to be 'built in'? . I think they look better but we're not having anything boxed in.

It's mostly the shower/bath i'm confused about.

You can have a back to wall toilet like the one you have linked to if your waste pipe goes a certain way. Through the floor I think it is. Rather than the wall.

A shower like the one that you are describing goes not have the bars on the outside of the wall. If you are getting a shower over the bath, you will need a screen and you might want to consider a P shaped bath where the bath is wider at the shower end.

Get a sink with storage underneath if you can.

Concealed showers. That’s what they are called, which makes sense.

We got our bathrooms from The Bathstore and they are great. And they will, help you to plan it all.

Look at some on line retailers, then pick what you know you will be happy looking at every day.

Some baths and showers spo me with homes already and some the fitter will drill. If it’s got a hole then you need a mixer tap.

We got a filler which is in the bath itself and you turn it on at the shower so there are no taps. The water comes out of that round thing. Then the three knobs are for shower (top) temperature (middle) and bath (bottom). Makes it look less cluttered.

Another thing to consider is the plugs. The ones with a stick are extra cleaning. Try to get a flip waste or a pop up waste.

Thanks Vandelay, most helpful. It still feels REALLY complicated though! Current bathroom is just bath with taps and shower hose attached and shower head on a pole.

The whole point of getting a concealed shower (got the terminology now thanks!) was so that it looked modern and less cluttered. But I've read so many post on here where people say make sure to get a second shower head that you can remove for cleaning etc but then you can see the hose so what's the point? Why not just have that and be done with it?

Flip waste? pop up waste? another avenue I hadn't even thought about Confused
