Cost of woodturning stove installation

Currently got a cast iron fireplace that we never use, have had a quote to open up the fireplace, sweep chimney, line it, new lintel, box in, plaster surround, lay hearth, fit stove, etc, of 2280GBP. That includes slate hearth, not stove. This is from a reputable place but feel we might be paying for the reputation - seems a lot. I haven't had any other quotes just yet. Interested in whether others thought it was a lot?

The stove I've got my eye on is the Clearview Pioneer 400.

Thanks :-)

That seems reasonable to me as it sounds like quite a lot of work. It is worth using a reputable and experienced company too, some friends used someone who was 'recommended' through word of mouth and he made a complete hash of it and didn't seem to know the relevant hetas regs either.

Two years ago we paid about the same for a similar amount of work, but including the stove. This was in South West London. I'd suggest shopping around a bit more maybe.

That sounds a great price. Ours was 4K but nearly half of that was the stove as it was a large one.

So, to be clearer, 2200 to line chimney and fit stove but we needed a tower as three storey high and also the chimney repointed.

We've just paid 1000GBP + 260GPD for the hiring a cherry picker (+ his time; he fixed some slates whilst he was on the roof). That was for lining the chimney, replacing the wooden lintel with a metal one and re-installing the wood burner.

Make sure they are HETAS approved, so you get the correct certification.

South not London. We’re paying 1200 to fit stove, line chimney, make good some plastering work around the fireplace and give us the hetas certificate for building regs.
Hearth is existing and no repointing required.

Sounds about right and very reasonable to me considering the height of the flue and all the work, fitting and hearth. I have a Clearview Pioneer 4 and it's great, sitting by it now.

Thanks very much all. Glad to hear it's not an unreasonable amount, and agree that a reputable place is definitely what i want for this kind of work

Clearview stoves are great. Costs of installation sounds about right. Enjoy! 🔥
