Anyone have any ideas of how I can get a bath (with shower over), sink and toilet into a room that’s only 1.2x2M? We currently just have a bath and a sink in there and a separate w/c across the hall but we’re redoing the bathroom and I’d really to get the toilet in there too. I know the first answer will be to get rid of the bath but we have small DC and I prefer a bath to a shower so is got to stay.

Toilet where the sink currently is, then put a sink on the wall on the right hand side that's currently not got anything on it.

We had that layout in our first flat and it worked fine.

or get a japanese hip bath rather than full length?

You can get squareish baths which are shorter but wider. They are fine for kids.

Slightly high jacking but how can you work out if there is a soil pipe on the right side of the house? If you can't see it on the outside is that it?

Smaller bath - look up shower baths as they are wider nearer the shower end.

Make sure you have taps in the middle of the bath with a shower attachment (along with the actually shower) helps with hair washing and bath cleaning.

If keeping the existing loo you should beable to join the pipes

Is there any way to make the bathroom wider than 1.2m? If you could add just a little bit of width to the room you could fit the bath along the wall under the window.

Last year we 'swallowed' the linen cupboard into a tiny bathroom. Gave us plenty of options.

Like you we need a bath for children (and also we both like to soak).

If you can't pop the wall out a little bit (it is surprisingly cheap to get this done) & you really want a loo in your bathroom, consider putting the loo under the window. And move the bath as far down the long wall as possible and fit a little sink in the corner?

I personally dislike the toilet in the same room as toothbrushes. So much more hygienic (and practical) to have the loo separate.

If I were you, whether or not you fit a loo into your bathroom, you need to get rid of that sink under a window. So much nicer to have a mirror (either get one with storage built behind or have great lighting around it.

Toilet where basin is and basin at end of bath. It's hard to tell how much space you have at the end of the bath though.

salsamad · 15/02/2018 09:12

Your current bath looks around 1700mm but you can get shorter baths 1500mm and 1600mm in length that are still the same width (or wider if you choose a shower bath).
This would give you extra space at the bottom of your bath for either a sink or toilet - you can get space saving toilets and sinks of varying widths.
As WorriedAndTired has posted what will decide where the toilet is situated is which bathroom wall is an exterior wall for the soil stack, as you will need this for toilet waste disposal and it will need to drain into waste sewer at ground level.
You may be able to join to your separate toilets soil stack if that is nearby.

SheepySheepy usually soil stacks are outside on older properties but can be inside (inside the wall leading from the toilet) sometimes they are boxed in and plastered over so it's more noticeable where they are positioned.

SheepySheepy · 15/02/2018 09:43

Thanks salsa and Worried. I thought as much. Looks like my separate toilet is likely to stay separate Envy. Although I'll get a plumber to check.

FluffyWuffy100 · 15/02/2018 11:39

If you can join to a soil stack - toilet where the sink is. Short bath with shower over. Sink at the end of the bath near the door.

meandmytinfoilhat · 15/02/2018 12:20

1600mm bath, corner toilet and sink where it is.

dotdotdotmustdash · 15/02/2018 14:02

Or the sink over the end of the bath?
