Smoke smell

We have been given a nearly new table and chairs for our dining room, however the people who gave it to us smoke so it smells of smoke as it's been in their house. I've read that white vinegar can banish bad smells and asked a colleague to pick some up from the shop on her lunch but she's picked up white wine vinegar, will this do the same job? Also does anyone have experience of this working?

Vinegar is vinegar - white wine vinegar is more expensive than distilled vinegar. Sugar soap is great at removing tobacco tar - depending on the finish of the furniture you could use that, don't forget the undersides of everything, wipe with a clean damp cloth and dry off quickly.

Vinegar really is vinegar itwill do the same job kim and aggie used to put a squeeze of lemon in their vinegar solution for smells

Lovely, thank you very much for your suggestions. I just wasn't sure, I'll try that tonight - zoflora just didn't do the job

if you take them outside, and sponge them down on a dry day, the smell seems to go as they dry. Warm water and WUL will do.

Fresh air and sunlight also help.
