I've just had a DIP approved with Nationwide .

Do these usually lead to mortgage approval??

Next stage is 3 hour phone call !

It's completely depends on what happens with your next steps. The DIP means your affordability and credit search have come back fine but an offer will still be subject to an appointment with a mortgage advisor, a full underwrite and a valuation taking place

My eventual mortgage offer was £5k lower than the DIP, but thanks to my parents it didn't cause too many problems. A DIP doesn't mean you'll definitely get an offer though.

We’ve mortgaged twice with Nationwide and the questions/financial evidence they ask for during the phone call are exactly the same as those on their online affordability calculator (the amount they would lend to us was identical down to the pound as that we’d seen online).

So if you’ve ‘passed’ the initial checks, the online calculator says they will lend you the amount you want and you’ve not got any glaring problems likely to come up with the ‘hard’ credit search, you’re very likely okay.

Good luck!

That was with Nationwide. I used a broker so no 3 hour phone call.
