M&S Abbey sofas vs DFS Harlington?

Need new sofas. I'm trying to choose between M&S Abbey sofas and DFS Harlington. I know the M&S one is quite an old style and the reviews are mixed. Although the one I sat on in the shop was really comfortable. I think the DFS one is a new style. It was comfy in the shop, but the seat's not as deep and it's more of an "upright" style.
What do you think? Does anyone have either of these? And if you do, what fabric/leather do you have? (I'd like the thickest leather, yes the expensive option....)

I don't know the DFS one but we have Abbey sofas, they've lasted for 15 years, they are a more classic style but I wouldn't say old fashioned. The cushions are firm and have kept their shape, they suit both DH and me, he prefers sitting upright, I'm more a sloucher! We have a smaller fabric one in a natural colour and a larger leather one in brown. Both still look good despite 2 boys and 2 cats.

That's great fourmagpies. Hopefully they haven't changed the way they make them then.....

Just to throw another one into the mix. We were originally looking at the same M and S ones but went for these www.claytonscarpets.co.uk/ashley-manor-alexis-range/
Barker and Stonehouse and Fenwick sell these ones too (although they were more expensive!)

Have just given my m and s abbey sofa to my sil, large leather one still in fab condition and its 10 years old.

We also have M&S abbey. Still in great condition after 5 years. Neutral fabric (silver thread running through it - nicer than it sounds!) they are comfy and spacious.

Negatives:
The side cushions take up a lot of space and we have removed them.
Check your space carefully as they are very deep and the sides (arms) flare out quite a bit from the base. I think I would buy something more compact next time.

We bought an M&S Abbey one from Ebay. The owner claimed it was only 18 months and I believed him because it was the most uncomfortable settee we'd ever had. I suspect it was the filling in the seat cushions which had to be plumped up every day.

SwedishEdithis yours leather or fabric? It's odd how some people find the Abbey really comfy and yet it gets some bad reviews as well. I wonder if it's just different tastes or if they've changed the way they make them...

It was (note, was, we got rid of it) fabric. Bought it about 11 years ago so would have been one of the older ones. I think if the cushions had been made of a high quality foam rather that (?) feather?, it might have been better.

It is odd, I wonder if they have changed how they fill the seat cushions, as ours are older ones but are foam and have held their shape. I don't think our back cushions are foam and despite the kids lying across the top of them, they still seem to be okay too.
