Electric central heating?

We have a flat in a block with no gas at all. So electric is our only heating option. It has huge old dimplex storage heaters just now. I guess they would be fine if we were in the flat all the time, but we only use it 4 days a week. So it's hard to use them properly, they take so long to heat up. We either leave the heating on for 3 days when we're not there, or wait hours for it to heat up on the day we arrive.

We got a quote from dimplex to upgrade to more modern radiators with a timer function but they were quoting us £4,500 for 4 radiators.

We've requested a survey from Fischer /Fisher I can't remember how you spell it, but we've been waiting nearly 3 months now.

We bought a small oil filled radiator for the kitchen because the storage heater in there is really inefficient and were planning to put it on a timer so it was warmer in the morning but the timer instructions say it can't be used with a radiator.

We bought the flat in the summer and it's actually very warm, it has loads of windows and soaks up the heat all day long, but wintertime has been a shock. We have thick curtains, rugs, blankets etc so we're trying.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

That seems really expensive. I would not use the storage heaters at all. You can buy good quality oil filled radiators with built in timers, no more than 200 pounds each, de longhi are a good brand. You can't use a timer plug switch with heaters so need ones that are built in. They heat up quickly and warm the room up.

I 've got the dimplex oil free with an integrated timer
Seems just as good as the oil filled

Would be lot cheaper than 4.5k to get enough for each room Of your flat

All electric radiators have the same efficiency. The purveyors of posh ones have regular run ins with advertising standards. Laws of physics.

Your best bet is to ensure you have an economy 10 tariff and use storage heaters correctly. If yours don't have timers on input and output or aren't wired to the night tariff, that needs fixing.
