What kitchen company when an Ikea kitchen won't fit?

So, I like mid century modern style, something simple and not too flashy - integrated handles or slabs with handles, (not handless J handled door slabs though), and thought Ikea was ideal in terms of style, quality and price.

We want to keep our existing kitchen layout as it's great and I can't see how it could be improved, but to keep it we need to have units that are 50cm wide or doubles that are 100cm wide. I can't find any option on the Ikea website for these unit sizes, so now I'm casually moping about it.

I've looked at the ranges from Homebase, Wickes, Howdens, Magnet, Wren, Burger etc. as well, and although 50cm and 100cm units aren't an issue on the whole, they don't offer the same for me in terms of style.

Could anywhere suggest any companies that offer Ikea style kitchens please? Thank you! Our budget is an Ikea kitchen budget, whilst keeping our current appliances, so not huge! But at this point I'd probably consider going slightly over to find the 'right' kitchen.

Why do you want to stick to 50cm units when most appliances and fittings are 60cm ?

Is there a particular design you're looking at for ikea? They all seemed very similar to Wickes and Homebase to me. Though ikea did work out a lot cheaper for us.

Worth getting an appt with one of their designers if you haven't already, as they are used to working round the lack of 50cm units.

TalkinPeace - We have a lay-on vintage stainless steel sink which needs a 100cm unit to sit on, and at the moment our appliances are freestanding and fit in the gaps in our kitchen which works well for us.

Try DIY Kitchens online.

I'd recommend going to visit an independent showroom in your area. They usually have a wider range of styles & tend to be better quality than some of the big high street brands.

DIY kitchens do base cabinets in 15, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120cm widths as well as two different depths. Shelves or drawers or a combination. Ive had 3 ikea kitchens but i love my DIY kitchen even more!
