In March 2017 we claimed on our house insurance as we thought there was a central heating pipe leak underneath our concrete floor.
All the classic signs were there, but after investigation, (none of which included actually digging up wet patch of floor to see what was going on), our insurer's contractor said that the damp and damage was absolutely not the fault of a leak and so not covered by our insurance.
Well to cut a long story short, yes it is a central heating leak, and yes it's leaked for another 10 months up to now and is continuing to leak at present.
Insurer/contractor are not in a hurry to fix/accept liability for not fixing this ten months ago, and we are having to wait for a week before someone will even visit to survey the issue/damage.
What would you do in this situation?
The insurer wants us to use their contractor and not our own plumber/tradesmen for any repairs. I've been told I can't make a complaint to our insurer or contractor until the surveyor has visited. There is much more damage in the house than there was last year as a result of this leak.
All advice welcome! thanks!
