Changing locks?

How many people change the locks when they move house?
We have bought a new house and we are the third owners in about 8 years.
Would you change the locks when moving in?
I’m just thinking with our house we have a cleaner, dog walker, 2 sets of inlaws and ourselves that have sets of keys so potentially a lot of people that could have got a key cut. We will obviously get keys back from everyone before moving out, but would you have new locks for a new house?

every time.
immediately, basically first thing even before the first box comes out of the van.

Ok, so I’ll have a lock smith on stand by then! Thanks.

Front door, back door and patio doors? Sounds expensive!

Always.

Never.

We had them done ASAP when we bought our new house, we did not know how many keys were out there as owner was elderly and not well. The locksmith changed them so the same key fitted back and front doors.

It could compromise your house insurance if not changed (?)

I don’t think I would sleep soundly thinking other people had keys. Just worried I was being neurotic!

I would yes

Good luck in your new home!

BTW it's easy to just change the cylinder yourself.

Look for a 3 Star cylinder as that will have anti-snap and anti-bump roperties. You'll get what you pay for with a lock

You can just change them yourself very easily for about £10 from places like B&Q. It’s just one screw. Smile

I’ve usually added additional locks and reinforced the door frames
