Buying kitchen appliances - Neff vs Bosch vs AEG vs others

Over the next month I need to decide which appliances to buy for a new kitchen, and there are a lot. We need 2 ovens, microwave, warming drawer, dishwasher, induction hob, extractor, dishwasher, american fridge freezer and a washing machine.

Last time we did this, we ended up with all Neff appliances apart from the fridge freezer which was a Samsung. I get the impression that Neff has gone downhill somewhat since then, but I really don't know how good the other brands are.

Is there one particular brand that is particularly good, or one to steer clear of? If you have recommendations for (in particular) hobs and ovens it would be much appreciated.

The aeg hob with the integrated extractor is about £1600 which I guess is ok if you add on a downdraft extractor, but still £££! The Fisher and Paykel fridge is so pretty, but based on reviews, I think we're going for the Samsung one (with the integrated soda stream) once our current LG one dies

I had a Fisher Paykel fridge freezer about a year ago. It isn't the one with French doors (which was too big for the space), and I've been very happy with it. It's roomy and well laid out, looks good and I absolutely love having water and ice.

Dishwasher and washing machine a Miele and they are very good. The washing machine is over twelve years old and still going strong.

StillSmallVoice I like the layout of the fridge too.

4years yes I know its really expensive! Still not sure about it TBH.

Neff, Bosch and Siemens are all the same, just with different looks. Siemens is slightly more expensive than Bosch as they give a longer guarantee. Neff you pay for the looks.

AEG is now owned by Zanussi. AEG used to be great, gone downhill since being acquired by Zanussi.

If you can afford it, go for Miele.

Our budget didn't stretch to that; we've just ordered a Samsung fridge/freezer, dryer and washing machine, mainly as price was decent and they came with a 5yr parts and labour warranty.

Another thing; I wouldn't necessarily go for the same brand for all appliances, but rather check each appliance separately. Your hob doesn't have to match with your oven, and a dishwasher you can't see anyway.

I love my Bosch dishwasher it's great. Wouldn't get Miele. Have replaced my 1 yr old Miele washing machine with an AEG as it was making my washing go hard and not clean. And Miele customer service was crap. Totally disinterested. Won't buy another Miele again.

ISeeTheLight - that's interesting re AEG. And we aren't necessarily going for the same brand for everything but I think it would look a bit odd with a different brand hob to the ovens (let alone confusing for my poor brain to work out the different controls)

I like the Neff ovens but I'm not sure about the induction hob - has anyone got the twistfire knob thing? Is it easy to use?

We are going out again this morning to look at stuff, need to find somewhere that has the hobs and ovens working so we can try the controls.

@Loueytb3 Neff, Bosch & Siemens are all part of a mother brand called BSH. So between the 3 brands you tend to get a very similar machine, with all the same features & functions but branded & priced accordingly. I'd recommend any of the 3 above, they are all good quality German appliances & the customer service teams are really helpful. If you have the budget for Miele I'd also recommend those too as they will without a doubt last you 20 years. Also take a look at Fisher & Paykel fridge freezers, they're a little more expensive but the range is gorgeous & the quality is there too!

@feve17 - that's interesting - I didn't know that. I think I'm edging towards getting Neff hob and ovens.

We have already decided we are getting a Fisher & Paykal fridge freezer - it just felt well built and you can move the shelves in any position. Plus it has the most fridge space of any of the others.
