Help with kitchen flooring.

We are getting our kitchen done. We are having white gloss units and a wood effect work top. (Photo attached).

I need help choosing flooring. I don't want tiles as it's too cold and as this isn't our forever home I don't want to spend on under floor heating. I am thinking along the lines of laminate flooring (suitable for kitchens), vinyl planks or even vinyl squares or just vinyl.

I can't even decide on a look that will match the kitchen units and work top so am calling on mumsnet for some help. I'm sure if I knew what "look" would match that it would narrow down my options.

My budget is open although not endless. This isn't our forever home and we are planning on moving in roughly 3 years- so although i dont want cheap cheap im not overly bothered on something absolute top quality if you know what I mean.

Any suggestions?

We had Karndean Van Gogh in French Oak in our last house and it was lovely. It wasn't cold underfoot and looked great several years after it was put down. We have moved and are about to do a new kitchen and we are almost certainly going to get the same again.

We used some very sturdy vinyl in our 'sacrificial' kitchen. Did the job perfectly, and from a distance looked like polished concrete. Quick and easy installation too.

what about some vinyl that is dark grey (slate) with flecks of orange which would match the wood and the sides.

We had similar units and work top in our old house and had wood effect laminate throughout the ground floor. I really liked it and the people who fitted it, who were originally a bit shifty about it, went on to use it in a few houses they did. I probably wouldn't use it in my forever home but it really did look good.

Thanks for the input. I'm busy comparing wood laminates at the moment.
Trying to get a good match is difficult. I might send off for a worktop sample so I can put it in my handbag and compare in showrooms.

If your kitchen is small enough for a single sheet of vinyl, I'd highly recommend it. We have quality, textured sheet vinyl in our family bathroom and it looks amazing for the price. You wouldn't guess it's sheet vinyl. It's fitted really well too.
