Kitchen sinks

Just moved in to a new home, the kitchen is OK and we have granite worktops so cant sensibly replace them.

But, I hate the sink and cheap wobbly (one-hole) tap. Needs to fit existing granite holes, so probably not going to be possible, But.... On/In a double base unit, a single bowl with the drainer sat on top of the cabinet. Ideas please

I think this would be easy to swap out - I did it myself when we had an appalling sink and tap (gappy, loose with a big wobbly tap - it was 'professionally fitted' but really terrible).

I knew the make and model of the sink so I could get accurate dimensions online. I got inside the sink cabinet and measured the hole accurately. The tap hole should be easy as most single hole taps will fit the existing hole in your worktop.

I did it myself. Mine was set into oak worktops and I had to slightly enlarge the hole, but only because it was so unevenly cut in the first place. I had to cut a hole in a ceramic sink for my tap which was scary but you will be able to use the existing hole for yours.

If you look online you will see that most suppliers provide a date sheet for taps and sinks with detailed and accurate measurements. I'm sure if you don't want to swap it out yourself a handyman could do it in a couple of hours.

Yes can do it myself probably, but the problem is finding a nice looking sink that has a drainer.

There are loads of online sellers. Once you know what size the aperture is and what style of sink you want you can google and be spoilt for choice in every price range.

you will have to be very careful lifting the granite off the units as will be siliconed to the hills and could easily damage

Cut you get a drainer cut into the granite?
Do you need a traditional drainer, you can get over sink drainers too and they are lovely and tidy looking.
