Mouldy loft since weather has become cold

Can anyone help?

Or a 1900's typical 2 up 2 down terrace house with a loft room that has been converted back in the 70's (not an official bedroom)

It has a window, and lights but no heating.

It is decorated and carpeted.

We use it currently as a loft as we don't need the space and the stairs up to it were treacherous so we removed them and put in a loft ladder to ensure no children would attempt the climb.

I've not been up there myself (had a c section last summer), and since the summer dp has been popping up there with the baby clothes that are being outgrown.

All has been fine until recently he went up there to get a bag down and found that the sloping loft ceiling had a patch of green mould and the loft smelt wet so musty.

The bag came down and smells musty too.

It's a north facing ceiling, so I'm assuming a cold spot had formed with all the winter weather causing condensation to not be drying out.

I went up to the loft to check it out myself and as far as I can see there are no vents.

The little window is double glazed so I have cracked it open to allow the room to vent.

Is this all that's needed?

Or is green mould a sign of something worse?

There are no roof leaks
