Would you buy a house near a secondary school?

The back of the school playing fields are directly side on to the house - there is the house, a turning area for cars and then the playing fields. It’s quite a big secondary school. The entrance to the school is down another road entirely so students wouldn’t be coming and going past our house. The house is actually very private and perfect in every other respect. My husband is more concerned than me and thinks that big gangs of kids will be hanging around by the house.

So, has anyone bought near a secondary school? Would you do so?

We recently moved opposite a secondary school
I was so scared it would be awful and was worried about teenagers hanging around, littler etc but the house was so perfect we decided to go for it
It's absolutely fine, there's no gangs of kids, no litter but it's a fairly smallish school
We used to live a road away from a primary school... now that was a nightmare as our road was used as a car park and screaming kids walking past, mums stood chatting outside the house for hours with their kids running around making so much noise, constant car doors slamming etc
Really really noisy playtimes...
But the secondary school has a massive car park and We live in a small town and a lot of the kids get coaches from the surrounding villages so there is two coaches rather than loads of kids walking by constantly or parents dropping off!
Kids stay inside at lunch time so there's no noise during the day
Shut at weekends and holidays which is great!
I don't regret the decision at all but wouldn't do it unless the house was perfect to be fair

Really does depend on the school though!

Depends on the school. In a lot of areas, there is a huge problem with litter in people's front gardens.

Check out Saturdays and Sundays too as many youth sports teams hire school grounds as their "home" grounds for weekends and summer time evening training.

Particularly watch out if there is an astroturf on site as these are hired out by schools near us every night of the week till 10pm as they have floodlights.
