Anyone got a J-shaped bath?

I'm thinking of getting one of these...

J shape bath

Does anyone have one and like it? Am worried the panel might be flimsy. Any thoughts appreciated! Smile

Bump!

Also, one place has advised to get WC, basin and bath all from the same range, as the whites can be different tones. But I don't like the baths in Bathstore (where we're getting our sanitaryware from). Someone else has said you can get a bath from anywhere and it'll look fine.

So I'm a bit confused !

How is it J shaped? It just looks like an ordinary bath.

I’ve got a P shaped bath from the Bathstore. It seems like really good quality.

I believe it about the whites as I have a white wedgewood dinner service and two of the plates are a slightly different white.

Giraffeski · 09/01/2018 20:49

No idea on J shaped bath as we have a freestanding one, but just came on to say we also got our sanitary ware from Victorian Plumbing and everything has been good quality so far.

SavoyCabbage it's rounded on the end? The bath Bathstore wanted to sell us with our furniture is this one:

Pool bath

Giraffeski thanks for letting me know about Victorian Plumbing Smile My sister has just had her bathroom done out with their stuff and is happy too.

We got our bath from a different place to the sink (sink from bathstore, cant remember about bath but definitely a different place) and they are different whites. But given there are alot of shadows in the room from the shower curtain, and where the spot lights shine etc, it is not noticeable unless you know they are different / spend ages staring at it!

We’ve got this one www.bathstore.com/products/liberty-1700-bath-right-1478.html

Thank you chocolatepudandchocolatesauce! Here's our layout...do you think we'll get away with it? DH is Mr Safe and would prefer to get a straight bath from the same place we're getting the rest of it.

I like the idea of a j-shaped bath (clumsy and walk into bath corners,), but was put off by needing a plastic panel which potentially couldn’t be replaced in the future.

savoy it is J because it has one curved corner rather than rectanglar.

GoingRogue · 09/01/2018 21:23

SavoyCabbage we've currently got a p-shaped bath and wanted something different. I note the one you have only has a capacity of 160L, whereas the Trojancast one I have my eye on it 220L.

Pic of bathroom as it is now...

going try the ideal standard 3d planner on their website. Free/easy to use and gives you a good idea of space.

NeverUseThisName · 09/01/2018 22:05

Given that a curve is a very strong shape (think about domes and arches), I would have thought that the curved end would not be flimsy, and the straight end supported by the frame.

We were advised to get the porcelain (ie toilet and basin) from same suppliers, because of colour, but not worry about the bath. They are different materials, so the whites will never be identical.

GoingRogue · 09/01/2018 22:32

NeverUseThisName thanks your thoughts Smile I'm pretty sure the guy at City Plumbing said that, and perhaps I assumed he meant bath too. But the guy at Bathstore said you can get the bath from anywhere. You're right in that the basin and WC will be porcelain/poly-marble and the bath acrylic.

If it's only a slight difference I wouldn't mind. Can't tell online or in a brochure though.

WeAllHaveWings thanks for the suggestion; I can't seem to get the link on the planner to work tonight. Will try again tomorrow on the laptop.

They are only a slightly different colour, and as others have said it is mainly due to the different materials, i.e porcelain toilet next to acrylic bath, so probably wouldn't make any difference where you bought it.
Remember the bathroom shop will want you to buy it all from them so will of course tell you their products will look best together.

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce Actually the Bathstore guy has been really open and honest. It was he who said we could get a bath from anywhere. Spoke to him yesterday to amend our quote (again!) and I said we were looking at getting the Trojancast J-shaped bath from Bathroom Supastore, and the Cruze shower from Victorian Plumbing. He Googled them and told me to go for it as they looked great! Smile I like that he's honest. We're still getting the furniture from them, the wc and basin, the taps and bath screen. Oh, and he did a really good deal on a towel rail and advised as the furniture is flat pack I could collect it all in my people carrier to save on a delivery charge.

Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere! Taking DH tile shopping sans kids on Sat.

Thanks for everyone's help on this thread.

Excellent, that sounds like really good advice from Bathstore. It is very exciting when you get to order it all etc isnt it? Enjoy your new bathroom.
